Experience the Ultimate Sensory Safe Haven

Create a calming sanctuary or an inclusive social zone with our 150cm Black Nest Therapy Swing. Designed specifically with safety and sensory needs in mind, this swing utilizes high-quality, supportive materials to provide a secure environment, making it an excellent choice for occupational therapy settings, schools, and children with autism or sensory processing needs.

Unlike traditional rope swings that can be abrasive on the skin or pose a risk of limbs slipping through gaps, this nest swing features a solid Polypropylene micro-weave mat. This waterproof material offers a smooth, supportive surface (similar to high-quality trampoline matting) that is exceptionally comfortable for hours of play or relaxation. Its extra-large 150cm diameter provides ample space to accommodate multiple children at once, encouraging social interaction and shared fun.

Why You'll Love It:

  • Sensory Friendly: The solid, non-abrasive micro-weave matting provides gentle, uniform support.
  • Extra Spacious: A massive 150cm diameter safely accommodates multiple children.
  • Safety First: Features a thickly padded outer ring and heavy-duty structural construction.
  • Weather Resistant: Constructed with waterproof, UV-protected materials suitable for indoor or outdoor therapy spaces.
  • Versatile Installation: Highly compatible with tree straps, ceiling anchors, or freestanding swing stands.

Important Note: This swing is designed with high tension to ensure a firm, safe surface. Assembly may require two adults.

  1. Prepare Parts: The swing arrives with 8 frame tubes, 2 hanging ropes, and 1 seat mat. Lay all components flat on the floor.
  2. Insert Tubes: Slide the 8 frame tubes evenly into the outer sleeves of the mat one by one.
  3. Connect Sockets: Begin connecting the tube sockets together. Leave one socket disconnected on opposite sides to temporarily create two semi-circles.
  4. Join Halves: Ensure the fabric loops are evenly spaced. Fold the unit and align the final sockets. Push down firmly on the tubing to lock the circle together (please keep fingers clear of the joints).
  5. Secure Hardware: Open the velcro padding to reveal the connection points. Insert the bolts from the hanging ropes and securely tighten the nuts and washers.
  6. Final Inspection: Ensure all bolts are completely tight and the padding is closed. Your therapy swing is now ready to hang securely.

Essential Safety Guidelines

  • Supervision: Active adult supervision is required at all times during use.
  • Clearance: Ensure a safe clearance distance around the swing's full trajectory, keeping it well away from walls, furniture, or fences.
  • Proper Usage: Users should sit securely in the center of the mat. Do not twist the ropes or loop them over the upper support bar.
  • Attire: Avoid wearing loose clothing (such as scarves or ponchos) that could potentially snag on the hardware.

Maintenance Checklist

  • Routine Checks: Regularly tighten all hardware. Check the protective padding on the outer ring and thoroughly inspect the ropes for any signs of wear or fraying.
  • Rust Prevention: Inspect metal components. If any minor rust is found from outdoor exposure, treat and repaint using a non-lead-based protective paint.
  • Storage: To significantly prolong the lifespan of the materials, unhook and store the swing in a dry environment during harsh weather or when not in active use.

This nest swing is highly adaptable and compatible with various hanging methods (hardware and stands sold separately):

1. Large Swing Stand

Our heavy-duty galvanized, powder-coated stand (260cm x 206cm footprint) is the perfect freestanding solution for this 150cm swing. (Suggested Structural Weight Limit: 150kg).

2. Tree Straps

The easiest setup for outdoor therapy or play. Loop the straps securely over a strong structural branch. Use a single strap (with a swivel) for 360-degree spinning, or two straps for a controlled, stationary forward-and-backward motion.

3. Ceiling Anchor Plate Kits

Ideal for permanent indoor installation in clinics, sensory rooms, or covered patios.

  • Concrete/Brick Ceilings: Use the appropriate sleeve anchor expansion bolts. Drill with a hammer drill, clear the dust, securely tap in the anchors, and tighten.
  • Solid Wood Beams: Do NOT use expansion bolts in timber. Utilize heavy-duty wood screws. Always drill pilot holes first to prevent the wood from splitting, then drive the screws securely through the anchor plate.

4. 150cm Blue Tent Attachment

An optional add-on that easily converts your nest swing into a covered, enclosed sensory hangout or provides a waterproof sunshade for outdoor use.

Common Questions

Is this swing suitable for children with autism?
Yes. This specific swing is designed with safety and sensory regulation in mind. The solid mat is smooth (unlike rough rope nets), and the gentle swinging motion can provide valuable vestibular input that is often very calming for children with sensory processing needs.

What is the difference between the mat style and rope style?
This "Nest" style swing utilizes a Polypropylene micro-weave mat. It acts as a solid, continuous sheet of fabric (similar to a trampoline), which is significantly smoother, more supportive, and safer than a traditional "spider web" rope style, entirely preventing hands or feet from slipping through gaps.

Can I leave this swing outside permanently?
While the materials are water-resistant and UV-protected for outdoor use, we strongly recommend taking the swing down and storing it in a dry environment during harsh winter months or severe storms to maximize its lifespan and structural integrity.

How many children can fit on this swing?
Featuring an extra-large 150cm diameter, this is one of our most spacious swing models. It can comfortably and safely accommodate multiple children at once, provided the total combined weight does not exceed the safe working limit of your chosen hanging structure (such as the ceiling beam or freestanding stand).
