Common Questions for Hanging Sensory Nylon Swing With Stand

How do I know which swing is right for my specific sensory needs?

Choose Lycra if the child is seeking deep pressure therapy, needs help self-regulating, or benefits from squishing, pushing, and the comforting boundaries of a physical cocoon. It is highly recommended for calming anxiety.

Choose Nylon if the child is seeking alertness, wants to build core strength and balance, or simply loves the physical thrill of fast swinging and spinning without the fabric sagging to the floor.

Which material is more durable for heavy or active use?

Nylon is the more durable option. Its low-stretch nature makes it highly resistant to runs and tears, which is why it is frequently favored by clinics and aerial studios for active physical therapy. Lycra has a medium durability profile; while it is incredibly strong and safe, the highly elastic nature of the fabric means it may stretch out slightly over time with frequent, heavy use.

What is the main difference between the Lycra and Nylon wrap swings?

The primary difference lies in the elasticity of the fabric and the specific type of sensory input they provide:

Lycra (Spandex) Swings: Feature a high-stretch, jersey-knit feel that cocoons the body. This provides a "deep hug" sensation (proprioceptive input), which is highly effective for calming, grounding, and reducing sensory overload.

Nylon Swings: Feature a smooth, silky touch with low stretch, meaning the fabric holds its shape under weight. This provides a highly stable base for active movement (vestibular input), making it perfect for swinging high and spinning.

How do I care for the nylon?

To keep the fabric strong and supportive, we recommend hand washing or using a gentle machine cycle with cold water. While the stand is anti-rust, bringing the nylon swing indoors during harsh weather will ensure it stays vibrant and fresh. Need more help?
