Tree Straps & Beam Loops: Suspension Guide

Tree straps and beam loops are the "No-Drill" solution for hanging swings and hammocks. Designed to protect nature while ensuring safety, these systems allow you to set up on trees, patio beams, or pull-up bars without using permanent hardware or damaging the mounting surface. If you need more tips on perfecting your setup, be sure to read our comprehensive guide on how to safely hang a hammock or swing.

Setup Instructions: The "Choke Hitch" Method

The safest way to use these straps is via the friction-lock technique (often called a Girth Hitch or Choke Hitch). This prevents the strap from sliding down the pole or tree trunk.

      1. For Trees (Using 1.5m Straps)

      1. Wrap: Hold the end with the loop. Wrap the strap around the tree trunk or branch.
      2. Thread: Slide the metal ring end through the fabric loop end.
      3. Tighten: Pull firmly until the strap cinches tight against the bark. The 4cm width will distribute the load to protect the tree.
      4. Adjust Length: If the strap is too long, wrap it around the trunk an extra time before threading it through.
      5. Secure: For extra grip on smooth poles, use a "half hitch" knot. Attach your carabiner to the metal ring.

      2. For Bars & Beams (Using 24cm Loops)

      1. Position: Drape the short strap over your pull-up bar or patio beam (max 7cm diameter).
      2. Clip: Connect the two metal ends using the provided carabiner or pass one end through the other if length permits.
      3. Hang: Attach your gym rings or swing directly to the carabiner.

      Usage Guide by Equipment Type

      Standard Hammocks

      Requires: 2x 1.5m Straps.

Setup: Find two trees roughly 3m - 4m apart. Install straps at head height. Use the "S" hooks or carabiners to connect the hammock loops to the strap rings. Ensure a 30° hang angle.

      Hammock Chairs

Requires: 1x 1.5m Strap (Tree) OR 1x 24cm Loop (Beam).

Setup: Select a sturdy branch or beam. Install a single strap. If using the 1.5m strap, ensure the Swivel is attached between the strap and the chair to allow rotation without unscrewing the strap.

      Pod & Sensory Swings

      Requires: Swivel Hardware (Crucial).

Setup: Sensory swings spin frequently. You must use the included Swivel (in the 1.5m kit) to prevent the strap from twisting up and snapping. The swivel ensures smooth, silent motion perfect for therapy.

      Strap vs. Bolt Comparison

Feature 1.5m Tree Strap 24cm Beam Loop Ceiling Anchor (Bolts)
Installation Wrap & Pull (No Tools) Loop & Clip (No Tools) Drilling Required
Portability Excellent (Camping/Park) Excellent (Gym/Travel) Permanent Fixed
Primary Use Trees, Large Posts Chin-up Bars, Slim Beams Indoor Ceilings
Surface Impact Zero Damage (Eco-Friendly) Zero Damage Permanent Holes
Safety Tip: Always check the branch or beam strength before hanging. Just because the strap holds 200kg doesn't mean a dead tree branch will! Look for living, sturdy branches at least 15-20cm in diameter.

      Common Questions For Tree Straps

      How long does shipping take?

Orders are typically processed within 1–2 business days.

While we prioritize fast dispatch across Australia, shipping to regions outside the East Coast metropolitan zones takes a little extra time. For deliveries to Western Australia, South Australia, the Northern Territory, and Tasmania, you can generally expect your order to arrive within 3 to 5 business days.

If you are located in a more remote or regional area within these states, please allow up to 7 to 10 business days for your items to reach you.

      What is your return policy?

We accept returns within 30 days of delivery on unused items in original condition. To start a return, contact our support team and we’ll guide you through the process.

Can I change or cancel my order?

If your order hasn’t shipped yet, we’ll do our best to accommodate changes or cancellations. Reach out to our support team as soon as possible for assistance.

Will the straps damage my tree?

No. The 1.5m straps are designed with a 4cm width. This wide surface area distributes the weight evenly, preventing the strap from cutting into the bark (a process known as girdling), keeping the tree healthy.

Can I leave the straps outside permanently?

Yes. The straps are made from weather-resistant nylon and the metal fittings are galvanized or stainless. However, to extend their lifespan, we highly recommend taking them down during extreme weather or when not in use for long periods.

Why is a swivel included in the kit?

For sensory swings or single-point chairs, users often spin. Without a swivel, the strap creates torque (twisting force) which stresses the material and can cause failure. The included swivel allows for 360-degree free rotation, keeping the strap safe and extending its life.
